The Lithium Shuffle Project

Li.png

Educational battery video to highlight components within a Li-ion battery (rechargeable/secondary-type battery), how these batteries operate before moving to more advanced concepts of electrode interfaces and characteristics of electrolytes. The video consists of a human-sized battery demonstration to show operation and solid-electrolyte interface SEI formation. The battery consists of students and staff from the University of Birmingham, UK – undergrads, PhDs, post-docs, technicians, teaching fellows and professors. The video itself is supposed to be fun and engaging and suitable for 12+. Some concepts don’t get taught until degree level (SEI formation), but we believe it’s a fun way of understanding further characteristics which make up these batteries.
